Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited Chanoki near Chawinda, Sialkot on Friday.
COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa witnessed the exercise; ‘Victory Shield’ of Gujranwala Corps troops.
COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa was briefed on objectives, planning parameters and conduct modalities of the exercise which is aimed at enhancing operational preparedness of formation, encompassing defensive and offensive tasks in response to any misadventure by the adversary.
Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa expressed satisfaction over the training standards and professional competence of the troops.
Addressing the participating troops, COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa stressed realistic and strenuous training in the field. Such exercises help bolster troops’ confidence, enhance cohesiveness/synergy and optimise their combat potential, COAS remarked.
Earlier on arrival, COAS was received by Lieutenant General Muhammad Aamer, Commander Gujranwala Corps.
Meanwhile, according to the ISPR funeral prayer of General Shamim Alam Khan (Retired), former Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee was offered at Army Graveyard Rawalpindi today.
General Nadeem Raza, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff, Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi, Chief of Naval Staff and a large number of civil and military officials including senior retired Army officers and relatives of deceased attended the funeral.
