Muslims will outnumber Christians by the year 2070, as Islam is projected to grow more than twice as fast as any other religion. At the same time, the world’s two largest religions will be equal by 2050, as Christianity is predicted to be 31.4% of the population compared to 29.7% Muslims.
According to the report of Pew Research Center, the high fertility among Muslims would fuel a dramatic 73% jump in numbers within a generation.
Pew Research Center’s research disclosed that by 2050 India would surpass Indonesia as having more Muslims than any country. Muslims will also make 10.2% of Europe’s population and 2.1% in the US, outnumbering the Jews.
The Pew Research centre analyzed 2500 sources of data, including censuses, demographics and surveys and other studies, to compile the report. While the researchers have credited that Islam’s growth is ultimately credited to demographics.
